I was born on 14 May 1968 in Langenhagen, Germany, where my father was employed as a forwarding agent in Hanover. In 1969, my parents left the town in Lower Saxony with me and went back to their old home in Essen in the Ruhr area.

I grew up there, went to school and then trained as a coachbuilder. After a social year in the care of the severely disabled,I decided to follow my passion for photography and trained as a photographer. I completed this in Essen at the Georg Pieron advertising photo studio.

I then went to Düsseldorf and worked as a photo assistant for various portrait, fashion and car photographers.

In 1996 I went to Hamburg to start a traineeship as a photo editor at the renowned photo agency ‘Bilderberg’. But after a quarter of a year I realised that office work was not my world, so I went back to production and then travelled again as a photo assistant for various car photographers in Europe, America and South Africa.

This is where my first training in the automotive sector paid off.

Since 1998 I have been working and living as a freelance photographer in Hamburg.
